Two Sentence Horror Stories About Space

Space horror replaces the dark forest with vacuum, distance and nowhere to run. These original stories use airlocks, radio silence, wrong stars and cosmic scale rather than simple alien jump scares.

Every story here follows the same rule: exactly two sentences. The first sentence establishes a stable reality; the second sentence changes what the first one meant.

01

Moon Window

From the lunar base, Earth disappeared from every window at exactly the same time.

The thing blocking it moved closer.

02

Spacewalk

During my spacewalk, mission control told me the tapping on my helmet was probably thermal expansion.

Then the tapping moved to the inside of the visor.

03

Mars

We found a human footprint in Martian dust three kilometers from the lander.

It was fresh and pointed toward us.

04

Mars Window

The first night on Mars, someone tapped twice on the habitat window.

Our mission roster says there are six of us, but seven sets of footprints surround the base.

05

Eight Minutes

Astronomers watched the Sun vanish without warning and began counting the eight minutes before Earth went dark.

At minute seven, something much closer blocked the stars.

06

Radio Silence

Mission control stopped answering us halfway through the return flight.

The final transmission said our capsule had already landed empty.

07

Moon Grave

The rover discovered a human grave on the far side of the Moon.

The headstone carried tomorrow’s date and my full name.

08

Orbit

Every ninety minutes the station passes over the city where my family lives.

Tonight the city lights spelled DO NOT COME HOME.

09

Suit Seven

We have six astronauts and six suits, but inventory keeps listing a seventh suit in the airlock.

This morning it was wet on the inside.

10

Venus

The probe sent back a photograph from the surface of Venus before the heat destroyed it.

In the corner of the image, a man in a white shirt is waving at the camera.

11

Black Box

We recovered the black box from a satellite that had never carried a crew.

The recording contains twenty minutes of people screaming in zero gravity.

12

Constellations

I woke during the night shift and noticed every constellation outside the station window was wrong.

Then Earth rose from the side of the window where the Moon should have been.

13

Airlock

Three knocks came from the outer airlock while all four crew members were strapped into their seats.

The pressure gauge began rising from the outside.
