WHY THIS ONE WORKS

Deep-water horror uses scale and invisibility; the second sentence reveals that the environment itself may be the threat.

It follows the house rule: exactly two sentences, with the turn doing more than adding a monster. It changes the reader’s interpretation of the setup.

The submarine crew celebrated when sonar finally detected the seafloor beneath us.
