Two Sentence Horror

About

Two sentences. Make them count.

Two Sentence Horror is an archive of original two-sentence horror stories, organized by the thing you would rather not think about tonight. It also runs 31 Doors, a 31-night experience that unlocks one door every night in October.

Pick what bothers you

There are 322 original stories on the site, and no endless feed. Instead of scrolling, you choose: the Fear Index sorts every story by the fear, place or object it is built around. Technology stories work because phones, cameras, smart homes and screens are already in the room with you. Children stories work when innocence collides with knowledge a child should not possess. Mirrors are a perfect horror device for reasons the index explains.

Places get their own index. If you would rather not choose at all, Random hands you one, and there is a Story of the Night.

Thirty-one doors

Every night in October, another door unlocks. Behind it are exactly two sentences. The site remembers which ones you opened. The 31 Doors page counts down to the next one, and you can ask to be warned when the next door opens: no spam, just the door.

The October 2026 run is billed as a 31-night horror experience. You can stand in the hallway and wait, or ask to be scared now.

Prompts, submissions and saved stories

The form is the rule: two sentences, make them count. The first sentence sets up a world that seems safe. The second takes the floor out from under it. There is no room for a third, which is why the good ones stay with you.

For writers there is a Prompts section: starting points for your own two sentences. If you finish one, Submit is where it goes. The Saved page holds the stories you kept, and Search finds the one you half remember.

Some pages predate the site

That heading is the site's own, and so is the line in the footer: archive first seen September 17, 1998. The Site Archive records incidents. What any of that means is not spelled out on the home page, and this page will not spell it out either.

There is also a page called You. It is filed under the Fear Index.

Practical matters

Two Sentence Horror publishes a privacy policy, which matters on a site that remembers which doors you opened, and terms of use. Questions, and anything that is not a story, go through the contact page.
